In automated sample handling in the laboratory, the Zimmer Group’s REP2000 electric 2-jaw parallel-rotating gripper reliably opens and reseals various sample containers. The solution automates manual decapping and recapping processes and combines gripping and rotating functions in a single compact module. Via the digital IO-Link interface, gripping force, jaw stroke, and rotation angle can be flexibly adjusted to accommodate different container types and process conditions. This enables sample containers to be handled in a reproducible, precise, and gentle manner—even with varying closure geometries or temperature conditions. Since the REP2000 operates electrically and requires no compressed air, it is particularly well-suited for sensitive laboratory environments with limited installation space. Mechanical self-locking, emergency release, and a long, maintenance-free service life further ensure process reliability and dependable system operation.
